The Millennium Tower

This beautiful thatch roofed stone Tower was built to celebrate the 1000 anniversary of Berrington Mill which stands just a short distance to the north on the Cadmore Brook.

 Lake and Tower

Prior to the Norman Conquest of 1066 Berrington Mill was held by Richard Scrope whose castle (Richards Castle) predates that of Ludlow by more than 100 years.
The Domesday Mill at Berrington was fed by the same springs which now provide its existing private water supply. By the XV11 century the existing Mill was fed by the stone weir at the foot of the drive to Cadmore lodge, adjacent to the new Water Mill. The now dry Mill leat can be seen running through the Cadmore Brook valley for ¼ mile almost to Berrington Mill. The Original corn Mill paid 22 packloads of corn a year to the King in tax. (Domesday Book records)

From the sale particulars of Berrington Mill Estate of 1905 the Mill had a 16ft diameter overshot wheel providing 10 HP, unfortunately the wheel was sold for scrap around 1970.
In 1976 The Weston family purchased Berrington Mill and constructed the Mill Lake which is now a Carp fishing Lake.
The history of Berrington Mill and its locality can be found on a tapestry made by a local Guild of Embroiders and was commissioned to hang in the Millennium Tower. It was designed by Mr John Weston and Mrs Barbara Aithen, using the records from the Domesday Book for Worcestershire
